The purpose of an exploratory argument is to explore as many sides of a particular issue as possible. The concept of an exploratory argument is to start without an end

in mind. You may not necessarily know how you feel about a subject or what you want to say about the subject, you allow the research and your own direction to

determine the outcome. This is writing to learn rather than writing to prove what you know. The exploratory argument builds on an inquiry— a claim — by having you

look at and contribute to a range of arguments rather than just one at a time. Furthermore, the exploratory essay asks you to widen your vision to the whole

conversation.Remember to keep yourrhetorical situations in mind.

This essay must be in MLA formatting and style. Additionally, remember to cite your sources very carefully. Failure to do so or to do so correctly will be considered

plagiarism, and will result in a zero on the assignment and possible failure of the course.
