1) explain a situation in which you think the correct or incorrect channel was used for a message. This example may be from research (include source) or a personal situation. Analyze if and why/why not the best channel was used.
2) analyze the indirect strategy. In using the indirect strategy, your motive is not to deceive the reader or hide the news. Rather, it is to be a compassionate, yet effective communicator. De-emphasizing the bad news is not meant to misrepresent the truth. Rather, it is to give the reader an opportunity to understand the reason(s) for the bad news. Breaking bad news bluntly can cause pain and hard feelings.
However, some believe that using the indirect strategy is misleading, deceiving, even unethical. We are cautioned to be gracious with our words (Proverbs 16:24 Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.), but is that always possible?
