To think like a psychologist, we are really training ourselves to think like a scientist. That is, we are employing encoding and metacognitive processes that promote a critical perspective. According to Susan Nolan and Sandra Hockenbury, to do this, we must 1) identify claims; 2) evaluate evidence; 3) consider alternative explanations; and 4) consider the source.
