NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies

I am a Registered Nurse (RN). I reside in Littlerock, Arkansas, I am single with no children, and I am the primary caretaker of my 70-year-old mother. From the most primitive time that I can remember, I wanted to make an impact on the world, mainly through the care of others. NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies. I had practiced as a Registered Nurse, since the year of 2015, before my career as an R.N., I held a Nursing Assistant certificate and a license for Practical Nursing. I work in the Long-Term Care (LTC) setting.

My ultimate goal is to work as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I plan to provide empathetic, compassionate care that is all-inclusive. The care that I expect to deliver will encompass not only physical health but spiritual health as it affects the overall health of a being and a population. I plan to isolate and identify the causes of individual patient imbalances utilizing a root cause analysis and from there articulating and implementing plans for specific issues to educate and promote further health. Focusing on health promotion must include the spiritual and physical well-being of an individual or group, for this shows full support of the being. (Grossmeier, 2019). The ultimate goal is to educate to prevent further circumstances. NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies.

Attending Walden was not an easy choice for me, so many thoughts rushed through my mind as I began to doubt my ability to return to school and obtain a degree. I can honestly say that it was something about the commercial that pulled me in, and after speaking to some of my colleagues who had attended Waldend and receiving only good reports I was almost sold. I then began to do some research, and my nerves began to resurface, and my intuition just told me go for it you can do this, stop being afraid to be the change that you want to see in the world, so I applied NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies.

Walden’s mission substantially aligns with my professional and academic goals, but more so for me with my spiritual goals. By providing me with many opportunities for multiple modes of learning and allowing me not only to learn but also to apply the skills I obtain from the teaching provided. By providing groundbreaking, learner-centered, enlightening curricula that identified and will integrate the information, expertise, and capabilities that I bring into my academic program, it lets me know that Walden will put me first. (Walden University, 2020). It gives me confidence that Walden puts me first. The coursework aligns with the knowledge that I must harness to achieve my goal. NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies I believe this will aid in my professional elevation. I think that the community’s improvement by focusing on an individual’s health, and conditions that are faced day to day is imperative. Knowledge and safety are paramount in the medical field, and by completing the course work provided and by mastering the programs learning outcomes, I feel that I will have fulfilled my definition of success, in this particular arena.

NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies response

I do appreciate your inspiration and defeat you have used to keep up your objectives. I felt we are in a comparable situation. I began this excursion of turning out to be Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017 and could not get the training I required from that college and decided to drop out of the program. Choosing Walden University is the best choice I have made. I originated from West Africa Sierra Leone and charitable association is the fundamental wellsprings of the less advantaged network to endure. The charitable association is the fundamental haven for youngsters that have been misuse and relative that lost their homes during war in my nation. Your conversation on the philanthropic association as your objectives will have an enormous effect on the network, particularly to the less privileged communities. I am curious if you have ever considered expanding your nonprofit organization to Africa? NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies.

NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies Walden University describes social change “as a deliberate process of creating and applying ideas, strategies, and actions to promote the worth, dignity, and development of individuals, communities, organizations, institutions, cultures, and societies” (Walden, 2020 Theme & Mission). As a director of nursing working in the home care agency, I utilize holistic care regularly. Often include communicating with health care providers, family members, patients, advocates, provide health promotion, and using community resources to ensure the quality of care, especially to diversity population. I believe you are on the right track and keep your goals in place. In my opinion, your biggest challenge will be communication with health care providers and family members. Looking at the mission of Walden University that stated that it is “a diverse community of career professionals that can transform as scholar-practitioners so that they can affect a positive social change.” (Walden University, 2020). It is vital that you connect with different health care providers in the public health community to create and educate the less privileged population. With this collaboration, it will create and maintain routine appointments with their primary care providers which in turn can decrease emergency hospitalization, improve the quality of care, and save the cost of medical insurance. Overall, you discussion is very inspiring

Discussion – Week 1

NURS 6003 Week 1 Discussion Career Goals: Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies/. As we progress to a new level of nursing, we have to ask ourselves what is our person misson in our careers?  I have been a nurse for 7 years, and started in a level 1 trauma center in the ER and worked at that facility for a year to get a basis, and then started doing nursing contracts.  Throughout the years I have mainly tried to stay within the emergency department, but I have worked some contracts on the medsurg floor, and some shifts in a PACU.

I recently received by BSN in March 2020.  It took me awhile to get back in the swing of school and paper writing.  I have a previous Bachelors degree in Business management and with those additional credits, I was able to buckle down and finisg my BSN in 6 months, which I was proud of myself for doing.  I decided since I was already in “school mode” that I would continue with my goal in being a nurse practitioner.  Waldon seems to be a good fit, as there is a lot of busy work, but I feel that this is easily doable while working full time. (Waldon 2020)

Through Walden’s mission that states,   “have a deep curiosity, drive, and commitment to solve pressing problems in their field” (Walden University, 2020, Vision, Mission, and Goals) I have noticed that this is also my personal mission statement.  I have always been one to ask why questions.  I am very curious by nature to understand specific processes or how different disease processes can change the outcome of our patients based on their big picture.  I am commied to being the best practitioner that I can be and being able to understand and solve the health care problems I am confronted with.

” The journey to the “ultimate achievement” never ends.”(Plastic Surgery Nursing 2016)  This is an inspirational quote that is now included in my personal mission.  I have always felt that I lived in my sister’s shadow.  I mean she is pretty amazing, but I was never involved in everything she was or as strong academically as we were growing up.  She went to nursing school and loved it and was part of my inspiration to start into the field.  However, as soon as I started, she decided to take her 10 years of nursing experience and continue to medical school.  As she is now in residency, as respects me as a colleague in the field, we have discussed me working with her side by side and working hospital and clinic pediatrics.  This would fulfill my career goal and feel that I have officially made and surpassed my goals.
